City outlines FY19—123 CIP process; projects must exceed $50,000 and last 5+ years to qualify

Budget analyst Torrey Askew summarized the components and outreach steps for the city's FY19—123 Capital Improvement Plan.
"In order for a project to be to qualify for, the capital improvement plan, it must be at least $50,000 and have a life span greater than 5 years," Askew said, explaining the maintenance and council-priority components of the CIP. He said the CIP committee reviewed project requests, revenue sources and priorities during November through February and has met with boards and commissions; he listed the Coliseum Central Board, Downtown Hampton Development Partnership, Economic Development Authority and other stakeholder groups.
Askew said the planning commission will be briefed on April 19 to request a recommendation, and city council will receive a CIP briefing and request to approve the proposed FY19—123 plan on April 25.
