City reports I Value online polling: public schools, streets and drainage top resident priorities

Robin McCormick, the city's communications strategist, briefed council on this year's I Value citizen-input polling and emphasized that the instrument is not a statistical sample but a public-input tool.
"624 people started the survey," McCormick said, and she explained the survey categories (increase, maintain, trim, cut). She reported that respondents most frequently asked for increased investment in public schools (about 60% signaled the need for more), better streets and bridges, and improved drainage and flood mitigation. McCormick noted clear demographic skews in respondents (overrepresentation of white and older respondents in the online sample) and said the city will seek broader outreach next year.
McCormick walked council through service-by-service findings (49 services polled), highlighted mixed views on arts and community centers, and recommended improved outreach to underrepresented neighborhoods and age groups before the next I Value cycle.
