City manager previews budget with 1.85 LEOS multiplier and 3% pay increase

City Manager Bunney previewed his recommended budget to the council, saying he will release the full document on April 15 and that it will include a LEOS (public safety) multiplier of 1.85 and a 3% general wage increase for city employees. "My budget when it is released on the 15th will indeed include the Leos multiplier of 1.85%," Bunney said, and staff estimated the multiplier will cost about $880,000 a year. He also told the council there would be no health insurance increase for employees this year.
Bunney framed the changes as possible because of stronger-than-expected revenue growth, saying the locality is able to step up compensation and remain competitive with neighboring jurisdictions. He noted the multiplier would affect both fire and police staff and emphasized staff will present the full budget and supporting details when the recommendation is formally posted and the public hearings begin. The mayor and council will consider the budget in subsequent hearings and a final vote is scheduled during the budget process.
