Waynesville police report officer fatality news, DEA drug takeback results and code-enforcement follow-up

Chief Gary Copeland provided the Police Department report, opening with news of a fallen officer in Hamilton and several department updates.
"Devastating news of the Hamilton Officer who was killed," Chief Copeland said. He also provided a letter from Chief Beckett about bringing the Hammel House up to code and reported the department participated in National Drug Take Back Day, turning "35 lbs. of prescription drugs over to the DEA." Chief Copeland noted the annual Police Memorial Day is on May 15.
Council asked about code enforcement at 120 N. Main Street; Chief Copeland said the owner has pending court cases for code violations, has shown some progress, but could receive another citation if there is no further progress.
