The Village of Waynesville’s Finance Committee reported on April 21 that it will present legislation lowering the employee contribution for health insurance from 15% to 5%. The committee met with Mr. Hough of Wade Insurance and described the change as a measure focused on employee retention and keeping the Village competitive with neighboring police departments.
The committee also planned outreach: Mr. Hough has agreed to meet with employees to discuss insurance options and increase staff participation in the process, and the next Finance Committee meeting is scheduled for May 19 at 6:00 p.m. The council did not vote on the change at the April 21 meeting; the item was flagged for future legislative action.
