Waynesville council votes 5-1 to chip in up to $2,500 for tire collection after federal grant pulled

Mrs. Connie Miller moved the contribution in “the spirit of collaboration,” and Mr. Zack Gallagher seconded; the motion passed with Mr. Troy Lauffer opposed.
Finance Director Jamie Morley told council that Wayne Township and neighboring municipalities had approved contributions and that the typical cost for the tire portion ranges from $6,000 to $8,000; the municipalities are being asked to divide the cost per capita. Council discussed likely low resident participation from Waynesville due to short notice but approved the contribution to help cover the collective obligation.
