Presenter says biomedical program gives students a head start through PLTW and Vincennes University partnership

A presenter described the biomedical science program as a "launching pad" for students and said Project Lead The Way (PLTW) recognition looks at program metrics and outcomes. The presenter said: "To be a distinguished PLTW school for biomedical sciences, what they're looking at is how are your numbers? Is your program staying active? How are your kids doing on their *********** assessments?" The remarks framed the curriculum as nontraditional classroom work focused on tangible skills.

The presenter highlighted hands-on lab work as a key educational tool, saying students react to tangible materials and use observation to learn: "Boy, when they get that in their hand, you know, and they've cut it open and they're looking, they'll they'll say things like, that septum is it's wider than I thought or it's deeper, and they know how to navigate." The speaker said such activities give students practical experience and a stronger foundation.

The presentation also announced a postsecondary partnership: "We do have an affiliation with Vincennes University with Project Excel, where our students can get some early college credit." The presenter characterized that affiliation as an advantage for students and said they were proud to be part of the program: "It's just something I'm very, very proud to be a part of."
