County readies roughly $20M in requests to support roads for Lee Township solar buildout

Kelly Scott said the county is "working so hard to get funding to the tune of about $20,000,000 in requests right now to improve roads in Lehi Township" to pay for pre-construction, construction and post-construction repairs and culvert replacements. Staff said they are coordinating with water resources, legal counsel and township officials to secure federal and state bridge and road funding and to negotiate road-use agreements with developers so taxpayers are not left with repair costs.
Public commenters urged the county to enforce inspections and to require culverts on new solar driveways; commissioners acknowledged competing pressures on townships that sometimes accept solar leases to raise revenue. Officials said they will continue workshops with commissioners and townships on strategy to maximize new state funding and to coordinate road projects.
