Finance Director Brett Baltazar outlined a proposed green-waste program with Wasatch Integrated Waste Management District covering the cost of new green cans; the city or its contractor would assemble and distribute them. He said there must be an opt-out option and the council estimated about a 50% take rate and an estimated monthly utility fee under $10.
Councilmembers agreed to pursue the option and asked staff to continue negotiations and present final cost and participation estimates. The council noted timing would aim to begin service in Spring 2027 pending final agreements and implementation details.
