Commission accepts HB 2604 grant to buy rescue cutters and spreaders for new pump truck

Fire Chief Dennis Gwyn asked the Commission to adopt Resolution No. 01-2026 to accept a House Bill 2604 grant from the Texas A&M Forest Service to buy rescue equipment for the Canyon Fire Department.
Chief Gwyn told the Commission the grant will reimburse 95% of actual costs up to a maximum of $25,000 and that the city's 5% share is currently budgeted in the 2025–2026 budget. He said the grant will be used to purchase a set of rescue cutters and spreaders for the new pumper truck currently on order. The Commission adopted the resolution and authorized the Fire Chief to represent the city in grant administration.
