"That's the price of the van, y'all. The it's a very minimal cost because you're basically talking about some..." the coroner said while describing a used-van option and the minimal modifications needed to accommodate a cot. Commissioners discussed procurement rules for used vehicles and whether the purchase could proceed under the existing budget line. Several commissioners signaled support and agreed to put the van purchase on Tuesday's agenda for formal approval.
The coroner also reiterated needs for a scissor lift, cot mounts and other equipment; staff noted some items were already in the department's safety allocations for the year. No final procurement action was taken during the work session; the commission instructed staff to prepare the necessary paperwork for a vote at the next meeting.
