Councilmember Cheryl Birdwell moved the order for 504 Harrison and Councilmember Earlene Rampy seconded; the motion carried 4–0 with one councilmember absent due to illness. Councilmember Hilda Castillo moved the order for 513 Harrison and Councilmember Janet Peterson-Gonzales seconded; that motion also carried 4–0 with one absent.
During the public hearing earlier in the meeting, owner Lars Hegdahl had said he was unhappy with enforcement actions and said he had once agreed to sell three Main Street buildings to a local restaurateur for $4,000 but the buyer later withdrew. Lars also told the council he was willing to "donate the deed of 504 Harrison to the City." The minutes record those comments and the council acted on the properties after private deliberations in executive session.
