The Commission approved an Office of National Drug Control Policy (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area) grant totaling $305,971 for FY2026, designed to disrupt illegal drug commerce in Shelby County. Adrienne Daley Evans, finance administrator for the Shelby County Sheriff's Office, presented the award and listed subawards: Memphis Police Department $81,968; Shelby County District Attorney's Office $79,005.20; Tennessee Bureau of Investigation $33,500; and Shelby County Sheriff's Office $113,983.
Evans said the funds can be used for overtime, buy money, wiretapping and warrant execution and that there is no local match requirement for the grant. After presentation, the committee took a vote and the clerk reported five aye votes (Sugarman, Mills, Ford, Wright and Bradford); the item was moved forward with a favorable recommendation.
