Highway foreman reports grader back in service, loader under repair; crews addressing downed and leaning trees

Highway Foreman Mike Hastings told the Selectboard the grader is back in service but the loader is currently out for repair. The truck normally used for spreading calcium chloride is awaiting replacement parts; an alternative vehicle is being retrofitted to perform the task. Ditch work continues and the new truck has been working well.
Hastings said there has been a high number of downed trees; the crew has been making pre-emptive attempts to address leaning or damaged trees in the right-of-way, frequently with assistance from the Fire Department. The board asked Shauna Prime to consult with Green Mountain Power about the power company's policy to respond only to emergencies and outages.
