The Newbury Selectboard opened competitive bids for its 2026 paving project, receiving proposals from All States Construction, Pike Industries, and Blaktop, Inc. Separate bids were submitted for reclamation work. The board did not award a contract at the July 8 meeting and instead asked staff to review proposals and bring a recommendation back to the board.
Highway Foreman Mike Hastings and Road Commissioner Shauna Prime will examine the bids and report their recommendation at a future meeting. Selectboard members noted the need to balance cost, schedule, and pavement-life considerations when comparing the bids. The meeting minutes record that representatives from Pike Industries (Norm Patenaude) and Blaktop (Tim Cramer) were present when bids were opened.
