Commission authorizes application to secure $1.4 million for fire station rehabilitation

Planning and Development Director Dustin Meyer told the commission Canyon was included in three local Community Project Funding requests sponsored by Congressman Ronny Jackson and that the city secured a $1.4 million request in the 2026 Agriculture Appropriations Bill for fire station rehabilitation. The commission adopted Resolution No. 08-2026, authorizing submission of a USDA grant application and granting signature authority to the City Manager to pursue the funds.
Meyer said that all required application documents will need to be submitted under the USDA Rural Housing Service rules and regulations to access the appropriation. Commissioner Danny Potter moved to adopt the resolution and Commissioner Robyn Cranmer seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
