Superintendent warns federal voucher proposals, Title changes could harm small rural districts

Superintendent P. McGee updated the board on exploratory talks with EF Tours to expand domestic and international student travel and on continued partnership work with Genesee Community College to enhance ACE courses. "A key goal of this work is to explore an EF Tours COSER model that could help reduce costs and increase access so more students are able to take advantage of these opportunities," McGee said.
McGee also raised concerns about federal proposals that could shift funds away from public schools. He said those proposals — including a possible federal voucher program and suggested elimination of some Title funding — "could have a disproportionate effect on small, rural districts like ours." The board did not take any formal action on federal policy at the meeting.
