Canyon authorizes purchase of three patrol vehicles after hail damage

Purchasing Manager Beau Boyer told the City Commission that a June 2025 hail event damaged 18 Canyon Police Department vehicles and that 13 were classified as “totaled.” After consulting with the police chief and finance staff, Boyer said insurance proceeds combined with budgeted replacement funds would be used to acquire three new patrol vehicles at a total cost of $209,583.
Commissioner Danny Potter moved to authorize staff to purchase the three patrol vehicles; Mayor Pro‑Tem Cody Jones seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. Boyer indicated the budgeted amount was $164,000, with stated vehicle settlement figures and an estimated remaining amount; he said the remaining $29,931 would come from insurance proceeds.
