The board reviewed a 16‑page farmers-market educational toolkit that staff adapted from Dane County. Lisa (sanitarian) described the toolkit as intended for vendor education on questions such as when food licensing is required at a farmers market and best practices for handwashing and safety. "So it's gonna be kind of targeted at the farmer's markets," she said.
The director and staff emphasized the document is educational rather than a formal county policy and that some verbiage will likely be changed to reflect Vernon County requirements. Lisa said she plans to bring printed materials to local markets if the board concurs, and staff flagged that some language may need editing to align with local licensing and inspection practices.
