Planned 'road diet' on Lincoln Ave and Gross Point resurfacing may alter Lincoln Jr. High drop-off

Superintendent Margaret Clauson told the Board that the Illinois Department of Transportation is proposing a lane reconfiguration in front of Lincoln Junior High that would reduce four traffic lanes to two with a center turn lane and add bike lanes. Clauson said the District confirmed the existing Babb/Lincoln crosswalk will remain and requested that resurfacing be scheduled between June 15 and Aug. 1 to minimize impact on school traffic.
Clauson also reported that Morton Grove plans resurfacing on Gross Point Road between Main and Oakton, with curb and crosswalk updates at Reba/Gross Point intended to shorten crossing distances and improve pedestrian safety. She said the District anticipates a 10–14 day period when the Lincoln driveway could be inaccessible, requiring temporary relocation of bus drop-off to Central and Reba streets and potential crossing guard relocation.
The Board did not take formal action but asked administration to monitor project schedules and coordinate with village and IDOT engineers to protect student routes and crossing supervision.
