Council staff asked the committee to approve a schedule change to the Recreation Facilities Refurbishment Centers project to include renovation of the Damascus Senior Center, backed by a FY25 supplemental request of $2,043,000. Kristen Cummings said the supplemental would upgrade the schedule to fund the Damascus renovation in the FY25–26 timeframe and that the department provided REIA responses for the committee’s review although the official Equity Impact Assessment had not yet been received.
"This is a level of effort project providing structural, renovations and refurbishments for the recreation center facilities," Cummings said, noting the department supplied answers to staff questions for the packet. Councilmember Gerando praised the inclusion: "This is a well loved facility," Gerando said, adding that Damascus is an important community example.
Robin Riley of the Department of Recreation said the timing aligns with nearby library work and that the department supports the project. Council staff recommended approval and the committee concurred without objection, while asking departments to confirm the REIA status and follow up at reconciliation if the assessment was not part of the packet.
