Human Resources Director Shelly Schultz reviewed a draft of the updated employee handbook with the Administration Committee, detailing changes across many sections including COLA, selection and trial-period language, overtime/comp time rules for office staff, an attendance policy, alternative work schedules, and vacation and sick-leave clarifications.
Schultz also said both the district attorney (DA) and assistant district attorney (ADA) positions are vacant and sought the committee's input on an incentive to attract ADA applicants. "Please let Shelly know of any changes/corrections ASAP and the final draft will be brought back next month for approval," the minutes state. The committee directed staff to survey neighboring counties about incentives and return with findings in July.
The minutes list specific handbook edits by page number (for example, changes to COLA on page 15 and attendance on page 36) but do not include the final wording; the committee did not adopt the handbook at this meeting and the matter will return for formal approval once edits are finalized.
