Skokie SD 69 to switch HMO coverage to Blue Advantage on July 1, 2025

Nancy Bellosa, EBC account representative, told the subcommittee that "the District will switch from the HMO Illinois to the HMO Blue Advantage Plan effective July 1, 2025." She said the change was intended to prevent disruption for employees who see doctors in the Advocate network and could also yield premium savings while keeping overall coverage levels the same.
Bellosa warned that because the group is moving HMO plans, employees will need to show their new BCBS cards at doctor offices and pharmacies after July 1. She said employees "should try to avoid picking up prescriptions during the first few days of July and/or scheduling medical procedures as they may not yet have their new cards" and that although coverage exists, employees might have to submit for reimbursement if cards or the BCBS database are not yet updated.
