Skokie SD 69 to offer VSP vision coverage starting July 1, 2025
Summary
The district will add VSP-Choice Vision Insurance July 1, 2025, as a 100% employee-paid option with in-network providers including Costco Optical and MyEyeDr; staff must enroll during Open Enrollment to participate.
Nancy Bellosa, EBC account representative, told the Insurance Subcommittee that "The District will begin offering Vision Insurance through VSP-Choice Network with an effective date of July 1, 2025." The benefit will be entirely employee-paid and offers either new frames or contacts once every 12 months through in-network providers such as Costco Optical, Pearle Vision, Sam's Club Optical, VisionWorks, Walmart and MyEyeDr.
Superintendent Dr. Margaret Clauson reminded staff that the vision option is new and that interested employees must sign up through the district's self-serve online system during Open Enrollment. Failure to log in preserves current elections but will not automatically enroll employees in the new vision plan; employees who want the VSP option must actively enroll.
