Parks report: LWCF grant pursuit, pool vandalism and park improvements

Diana, speaking for the cemetery and parks, said the department has applied for a Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) grant to support drives, parking lots, restrooms and new playground equipment, and that a Phase 2 trail sign has been ordered to be installed near the Phase 1 sign. "We've applied for the LWCF grant," she said, adding the project scope could cover new drives, restroom panels and expanded playground areas.
Diana also reported recent vandalism at park restrooms: "Another stall door was ripped off in the next bathroom," she said, and described finding broken bricks thrown into a restroom; she photographed the damage and plans to contact the chief about ensuring the bathrooms and splash pad are locked nightly. She said the concession stand framing at the Seamit marketplace has begun and trustees have been on-site to assist with operations and cleanup.
