Residents raised water-quality and infrastructure concerns at the March 21 hearing. Frances Mock told council, "The water is bad, the past 7 years my dog doesn’t even drink the water," and said the town’s pipes show rust. Several residents asked about replacing meters with remote-read or smart meters to improve billing accuracy and detect leaks.
Town Manager Suzanne Harvey responded that the town conducts testing and submits results monthly to the relevant regulator, stating, "our water is absolutely good," and said the town will evaluate its system. SEAGO staff recommended using SSP or planning grants to fund an assessment or engineering study before committing implementation funds and noted that meter replacement could be bundled with broader water-main or treatment work in a future application.
