Elementary showcases projects; district staff review AI-survey results

Elementary Principal K. Loftus told the board the district is increasingly inviting parents and grandparents to school events and highlighted project-based learning across grades: kindergarten pumpkin-carving and 100th-day stations, a 3rd-grade reptile research project with nonfiction books and dioramas presented in a gallery walk, and a 5th-grade planetary research and creative 'Alien Project' with slide shows and descriptive paragraphs.
Director of Instructional Services B. Brown noted the Extended School Year (ESY) and a Summer Reading Program sponsored by SUNY Geneseo will run again, and the district is working on a Seal of Biliteracy. On technology and assessment, results from an AI survey were handed out; J. Back will present those findings at the next board meeting. Superintendent P. McGee said the Superintendent Conference Day emphasized AI and that C. Harris "demystified the concerns around AI."
