Legal adviser: newly formed Edgewater Chamber of Commerce in process, awaiting tax-exempt filing

Dave Dixon, legal adviser to the nascent Edgewater Chamber of Commerce, told the council the organization was formed a few weeks ago, has filed articles of incorporation with the state and has appointed directors. He said the Chamber is proceeding to file for tax-exempt status and that its organizers intend to comply with state law.
Dixon named James Rose as president and listed Pamela Vandergriff and Eshera Akerbult among the directors. "It was our intent not to address the issue unless someone brought it up," Dixon said. He said the organization is awaiting IRS confirmation of its 501(c) status and that membership fees were set recently to comply with law.
