Riverfront Estates residents raise safety, construction and traffic concerns at Edgewater council meeting

Multiple residents urged the council to inspect recent construction in Riverfront Estates, saying concrete work was rushed and that homes already show cracks. Jim Lovegren said he observed walls erected days after slabs were poured, and that short curing times were producing foundational settling and cracks. "Consequently, a number of the houses here are already suffering cracks," Lovegren said.
Neighbors also criticized a newly built observation deck over water, saying it used pressure-treated lumber and pilings that appear cracked and undersized and that there was no posted permit or visible inspection. Greg Snyder and others asked the city or county to inspect the deck and the broader development; residents requested speed bumps, signage and other traffic-calming measures on Jones Fish Camp Road to protect children and pedestrians. Council and staff said they would follow up with inspections and stay engaged as the development proceeds.
