When the public hearing on the proposed amendment began, Hearing Officer Dr. Johnson read into the record that "To date, there are no written comments, no phone in comments of any kind has been submitted." He opened the floor for verbal public comment and asked speakers to state their name and address, but there were no attendees in the chamber besides town officials.
Dr. Johnson also said the town had posted notice at the appropriate locations, published the notice in the newspaper and on the town Facebook page, and maintained a citizen review process since Feb. 5. Despite those outreach steps, no members of the public provided written or oral input during the hearing. The hearing officer nonetheless recommended approval and will forward his recommendation to the Town Council for final reading.
