Superintendent Dr. Hunt told the Parma City School District board she has restructured the district’s central office to give greater focus to student wellness and mental-health supports. "What is in the best interest of our community of 9000 students and their families?" she asked as she introduced the chart and new roles.
Dr. Hunt said the role previously held by the executive director of human resources and information systems has been replaced with an assistant superintendent of student services; district athletics will report directly to the superintendent and information services will report through business operations. She described the changes as intended to distribute leadership across student services, academic services and business operations so the district can respond more quickly to student needs and avoid siloed decision-making.
Board members questioned how the success of the new structure will be measured. Dr. Hunt told the board individual evaluative responsibility rests with district leadership but said she expects operational improvements to be visible in areas such as chronic absenteeism, compliance and student interventions. She said new hires tied to the reorganization appear on the meeting agenda and that she will present a framework for any staffing decisions in January for the board’s review.
