Board advances process for library strategic plan, aims for September rollout

The board chair said the goal for the library’s strategic-planning work is to produce a document the board can present in September and asked trustees to suggest edits and objectives. “the the goal again, I think we talked about this, would be, to try and get something for September as as we roll it out,” the chair said.
Trustees spent much of the discussion on scope and format: whether to keep a distilled one-page summary tied to the city plan or expand to a longer five-year document with year-by-year initiatives and measurable outcomes. A trustee described the draft as “masterful” while urging that the board identify a small number of near-term actions the staff and board can support. The chair proposed trustees consider a subteam to develop detailed initiatives and measures of success and said staff will draft objectives for discussion at the July meeting.
