Fire Chief Rich Evans reported that the department handled “a total of 49 calls for the month of July” and said staff participated in National Night Out. Chief Evans told trustees the department received a $5,000 Norfolk Safety First Grant that will be used to purchase eight or nine pagers for the department’s new radio system.
Evans also announced a department fundraiser — a ribeye and porkchop dinner — scheduled for Sept. 6 to help offset equipment and supply needs. Trustees acknowledged the report as part of the Mayor’s/President’s report and did not take separate action on the items during the meeting.
