Gale Associates told the Fitchburg Airport Commission the main apron reconstruction project is at the 95% plans-and-specifications stage and is moving toward bid readiness once agency comments and conservation conditions are resolved.
Gale representative Mark Ottariano said the 95% plans were submitted to the FAA, MassDOT Aeronautics Division and the airport on Dec. 19, 2025. "Comments were received from MassDot on January 13, 2026. Those comments have been incorporated into the project document," he said. Gale has not yet received FAA comments and is awaiting the Fitchburg Conservation Commission's final Order of Conditions (OOC) so any required special conditions can be added to the bid documents.
Chair Clayton Raymond asked what the OOC entailed; Ottariano explained the OOC lists special conditions the project must follow to protect the environment and that those conditions will be incorporated into the construction documents. Once FAA comments and the OOC are addressed, Gale said the plans and specifications will be ready for bidding.
