Chair (speaker 3) opened the work session by saying the meeting exists to prepare next week's agenda and to gauge commission temperature on items including the fleet proposal.
Clay Phillips, the county engineer, described an offer from Nextran/MAC to swap the county's current Mack trucks for brand-new 2026 trucks with near-zero miles and new warranties. "They have 6 they're gonna swap out," Clay said, explaining dealer arrangements other counties have used that reportedly rely on $1 purchase orders to account for traded vehicles. Commissioners asked for a written agreement and told staff to run the proposal past the county attorney and procurement staff. Clay estimated a new truck price around $210,000 and emphasized the county must confirm the new units match current specs before proceeding.
