Hounsfield Planning Board finds no significant environmental impact for Sapphire Solar, approves site plan

The Town of Hounsfield Planning Board adopted a SEQR determination and approved the site plan for the Sapphire Solar Photovoltaic Project during its September 2024 meeting.
Kayla Kibling of Barton & Loguidice presented SEQR Parts 2 and 3 for the project. The board recorded a letter from Grant Sussey, Director of Aviation for Jefferson County/Watertown International Airport, stating a solar glare analysis for the airport runways was not necessary. The minutes also reference an FAA Determination of No Hazard to Air Navigation dated March 3, 2023, and an extension request submitted on August 30, 2024.
The board passed Resolution #12 of 2024, finding the proposed project is a Type I action and will not have a significant adverse impact on the environment.
