During old-business discussion Trustee Paula Belobrajdic-Stewart relayed a noise complaint from resident Kem Wilson about Sophia's holding outdoor events in its parking lot. According to Stewart, the event took place on July 5 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and raised concerns about whether the Village's permitting and enforcement framework covers outdoor music or amplified events associated with an indoor event hall.
Stewart said she believed the original approval anticipated indoor events and asked whether the board could require a special-use permit for outdoor music; Chief Eric Hansell replied he did not know of an existing rule for an outside venue. The board directed staff and counsel to look into how special-use permits or conditions could be applied to outdoor events and whether any ordinance language or administrative process should be clarified to address recurring outdoor gatherings at private venues.
