Board approves lease with United Methodist Church for Community Transition Program

The Silver Falls School District 4J board voted unanimously Aug. 12 to approve a revised lease agreement with the United Methodist Church to house the district's Community Transition Program (CTP). Director Jennifer Traeger moved to approve the lease and Director Aaron Koch seconded; the motion passed without opposition.
Laura Beville, pastor at the United Methodist Church, explained why the church is requesting an increase in rent, saying the students now use double the space the program originally occupied and the congregation has subsidized the program. "She explained why they are requesting a raise in rent (the students are now using double the space)," Beville told the board during public comment and described the church's positive experience hosting the program. The board approved the lease after questions and discussion about space and terms.
