The Town of Thompson Planning Board opened a public hearing on June 24, 2026 for a site-plan modification at Strongtown Storage, where project engineer Glenn Smith presented a May 12, 2026 updated plan proposing the addition of propane tanks at 1234–1240 Old Route 17. Smith told the board the tanks were included on an earlier version of the plan, removed before final approval when the owner thought they were unnecessary, and are now being requested because the owner again needs them. "The third party is NFPA (National Fire Protection Association)," Smith said when asked who would regulate the tanks.
Board members questioned whether a generator was proposed and how alarms would function without electricity. Smith responded that there is no need for a generator and that "there are alarms, but they do not require electricity to work." Consulting engineer Matt Sickler told the board his review comments have been addressed and that county 239 comments were not substantial. There was no public attendance or written comment; the board closed the public hearing by unanimous voice vote.
