Road Department Director Mark Heyliger reported that the county's current tree-removal contractor had failed to respond to work orders in a timely fashion and is in breach of contract. With review by corporate counsel, a notice of breach has been sent; Heyliger said the county will terminate the contract if the contractor does not respond within seven days.
Heyliger asked the committee to approve using the next-lowest bidder to complete the remainder of the year's work. Commissioner Teri Freehling moved and Commissioner Rayonte Bell supported a motion to cease the current contract and prorate work to the second bidder for the remainder of the calendar year; the motion carried.
