Public commenter urges clarity on who will pay for special election

David Buchen, vice chair of the Upstate Conservative Coalition, told the council he was confused by press coverage and asked who would pay for implementation of the special election. "I don't know who pays for it," Buchen said, noting that school-board elections rent machines and get vendor services through the county and suggesting the city could adopt a similar model.
Council members acknowledged the question. Speaker 2 said their understanding was that the county generally picks up the cost and that, "if they bill us after the fact, how are we supposed to budget for that?" The council discussed asking BOE officials to clarify payment responsibilities and timing before finalizing the calendar.
