Following discussion about road condition and safety on County Road 4, Mountrail County Commissioners voted on July 21 to set a reduced weight limit of 6 tons / 80,000 pounds per axle for CR4, effective Monday, July 27, 2026. Commissioner Joan Hollekim moved the reduction and Commissioner John DeGroot seconded; the motion passed on a unanimous roll call vote.
The reduction is intended to protect the roadway from heavier loads pending maintenance and to address immediate safety concerns. The minutes record that the weight-limit change will take effect as posted; the county will follow its standard signage and enforcement procedures to notify haulers and the public.
