White Earth Bay cottage-site owners press county over road conditions and safety

Property owners at White Earth Bay told Mountrail County Road & Bridge staff on July 21 that A, B and C streets within the cottage site are in poor condition and lack upkeep. Road & Bridge Engineer Jana Hennessy presented a letter of concern; resident Yvonne Gunderson spoke for cottage-site owners about safety issues within the park.
The minutes record that Starla Norstedt noted the land sits in Unorganized Township 154-94 and that funds exist in that township account. State's Attorney Wade Enget outlined legal and procedural options: the area could organize as a township or create a homeowners association that could then request assistance (gravel or other maintenance) from the Unorganized Township fund. The board did not commit funds at the meeting and directed staff to return with follow-up once a homeowners association or formal request is established.
Road & Bridge staff and commissioners also discussed broader notices for dust control, gravel and ditch mowing and agreed to use the county's Loadpass system to provide public notifications when applications occur.
