Airport Maintenance Supervisor Pete Norstrom told the council the maintenance/repairs line dropped on paper from $14,000 to $9,000, but he said the airport actually needed about $15,000 for building repairs and two courtesy vehicles required maintenance.
Mr. Norstrom said the airport also needs an industrial blower at an estimated cost of about $10,000 for runway safety; he said the department currently uses a small blower but needs a larger, industrial model. He added the airport needs a structure to house city equipment and said he would speak with the FAA representative about options for placement.
Council did not approve capital purchases at the workshop; staff was asked to include equipment needs in budget estimates for further review at the June 30 session.
