The City Council on Aug. 22, 2024, voted 7-0 to approve a Future Land Use Plan amendment (agenda item H.2) changing approximately 5.89 acres at 703 and 705 Cypress Creek Road from Local Office/Retail/Commercial (LOC) to Regional Office/Retail/Commercial (REG).
Andreina Dávila-Quintero, Development Services Assistant Director, introduced the petition and staff review. Ethan Harwell of Kimley-Horn reviewed the petitioner’s concept plan for a development of five buildings intended for retail and commercial uses. The Planning and Zoning Commission had recommended approval 7-0. Council discussion focused on uses that appear in General Business but are not included in Light Industrial, and whether the REG designation better accommodates the proposed retail/commercial development. The motion to approve was moved by Councilmember Mel Kirkland and seconded by Councilmember Eric Boyce.
