The council approved multiple public-safety items presented by the public-safety commissioner. A local traffic-code amendment repealing an obsolete yield sign and an amendment prohibiting parking on the north side of Worth Street passed by voice vote. The council also accepted a donation from The Poor Foundation covering $10,818 for electric-vehicle safety training for firefighters.
On school safety, the council authorized an agreement with the Saratoga Springs City School District to fund two School Resource Officers for the 2024–25 school year; the district will reimburse the city $75,104 for a high-school SRO and $73,632 for an elementary-school SRO while the city remains responsible for remaining compensation and benefits. Council members discussed coverage for extracurricular events and the timing of contract signatures; the motion passed by voice vote.
