The board approved a set of tenure recommendations at the May 20 meeting, granting tenure to multiple employees across the district. Recommendations were made "upon the recommendation of the superintendent" and approved following presentations that highlighted candidates' contributions to students and school programs.
Among those granted tenure in formal votes were Amy Maskell (physical education teacher, effective 08/31/2026), Michael Cabrera (physical education teacher/coach 'Coach K'), Angela Corrales (grade 1 teacher), and William McDonough (administrator/principal, effective 09/06/2026). Presenters praised the candidates' instructional approaches, extracurricular leadership and community engagement; the superintendent and board members added personal remarks of thanks and recognition.
"Everyone that's being presented tonight is an absolute rock star," a board member said during the meeting when several candidates were introduced. The board celebrated previously approved tenure recipients as part of the meeting's tenure recognition segment.
