Heritage Pines approves Premier Lakes contract for pond algae treatment, saving $3,200 annually

The Heritage Pines board voted unanimously to approve a contract with Premier Lakes, Inc. for pond algae treatment at a cost of $19,200, which District Manager Chuck Adams said represents a $3,200 annual savings compared with the existing SOLitude contract.
Mr. Adams outlined the transition timetable: he will initiate SOLitude's 30-day termination to end services on Nov. 30, 2024, and Premier Lakes would commence service on Dec. 1, 2024. When asked by resident Susan Napolitano what chemical SOLitude sprays into the lakes, Mr. Adams said "a copper-based product is used to target algae. The odor is a product of the degasification of the algae, which lasts a couple of days." The board approved the Premier Lakes proposal on a motion by Michael Walsh, seconded by Carol Vaughan, with all supervisors voting in favor.
The district manager also reviewed the scope of services that Premier Lakes would provide; Mr. Adams said the Premier Lakes report will include more detailed pond-identification information than SOLitude's reports. The board's vote formally authorizes the contract award and the vendor change is expected to take effect at the end of November.
