Resident urges council to halt water fluoridation, cites federal judge's finding

Hents told the council the judge directed the EPA to review fluoride recommendations and said the agency's 0.7 milligrams per liter standard presents an "unreasonable risk," particularly to fetuses and young children. "This is a neurotoxin," he said, adding that several countries and some U.S. states have ceased fluoridation and that municipalities should not wait for a federal response. The council did not take immediate action during the public-comment slot; the speaker asked the council to place the issue on a future agenda for review.
