The Allen Independent School District Board of Trustees unanimously accepted the written withdrawal of the previously approved applicant for Board Trustee Place 4 and rescinded its Aug. 8 approval, the board announced after reconvening from closed session on Aug. 17, 2024. The motion, made by Trustee Bill Parker and seconded by Trustee Polly Montgomery, directed the board to "accept[] the withdrawal of the approved applicant, rescind[] the Board's approval of the applicant on August 8, 2024, and move[] forward with continuing consideration of the options available to fill the vacant position."
The board entered executive session earlier in the meeting to consult with counsel and deliberate personnel matters, then reconvened at 5:36 P.M. to take action. The motion passed unanimously; five trustees were recorded present (Sarah Mitchell, Polly Montgomery, Bill Parker, Elle Holland and John Holley) and one trustee (Veronica Yost) was listed as absent. Trustees did not vote on a replacement at the Aug. 17 meeting and said they will continue consideration of options to fill Place 4. The meeting adjourned at 5:37 P.M.
